A festival of new ideas from brilliant artists

I was the director of Rep Stripped Festival 2026 at Dundee Rep Theatre. The festival worked with over 30 freelance artists to platform ten brand new pieces of work. The festival also had workshops and panels for audiences and artists.

“In a landscape where making theatre can be increasingly challenging, supporting artists to get their work on stage & in front of audiences is vital than ever. This is the core idea behind Rep Stripped, and being invited to direct this year's festival is a huge honour. It was important to me that we support work that felt bold in their offers, that had a clear sense of trajectory for future life and is being made by Scottish artists with significant potential.

Our cohort of ten artists are bringing this work to life for the first time this week, which can be both daunting and emboldening experience. As an audience, you play a vital role in that process, so thank you for being here to embrace new work.

Rep Stripped is an opportunity for these artists to show new work in front of an audience for the first time. Work that is exciting, that offers interesting and unique perspectives, that can only be experienced live on a stage in front of people like yourselves. This festival offers something for everyone, with a wide array of tones, themes and forms across the lineup. I hope you enjoy what these brilliant artists are creating, and if you can that you come back to watch both programmes of work.
